UncoverGems, a quiz-generation platform for creators and businesses
Currently shipping the UncoverGems homepage redesign, section by section, from the team lead's mockup and design spec.
- Built the redesigned homepage in React: header, hero, creator and quiz-taker paths, "who we are", mission, final call to action and footer, all on a lazy-loaded
/redesign route so the team reviews it side by side with zero impact on the live site.
- Laid down a design-system foundation: every color, type size, spacing, radius and shadow from the spec as scoped tokens, plus reusable Button and Card components that the rest of the team can build on.
- Turned the hero into a playable quiz preview: visitors answer a sample question and get a personalized result in two clicks, built to hit the spec's "drives engagement" goal.
- Made it accessible and responsive: real radio inputs, visible focus states, screen-reader announcements and reduced-motion support, verified at 1280px and 375px with every color and font checked against the spec.
- Unblocked a broken production build after an auth-module rewrite. Traced six stale imports, proved none were used, and took the build from
Failed to compile to green.
- Caught and removed obfuscated code hidden in a build config file that ran on every start and build, and documented it for the team.
- Kept shared branches safe with a personal feature branch and one commit per change. Upgraded dependencies (axios 1.x, eslint 7.32, react-scripts 5.0.1) and flagged a mixed yarn/npm lockfile issue to the team.
